Sarah Palin Quits

Apparently because people were mean to her. And the Freepers love the "strategery" of this because, you know, if she ever became president I'm sure America's enemies would treat her with kid gloves in order not to excite her tender sensibilities.

Here's her swan song in a nutshell (to mix metaphors):

"And that's the reason. The reason I just gave is explained and it's the reason. Now that I've fully explained my decision and given all the reasons, there are no other reasons, we can get on with the fight for Alaska. Which I am now giving up an incredibly powerful office in. In order to help it. Which I just explained so no more explanation is necessary."

Oh, yeah, this definitely didn't strike me as a stepping stone to success. I'm not proud of this, but I can't wait to find out the real reason.

At first I thought there might be some big scandal coming, but now I'm inclined to think that Palin got a taste of fame and power and couldn't stand returning to the banality of Alaska state politics. I now believe she has plans to capitalize on her popularity in any way possible.
